Invitation to try Auralite, my new Obsidian plugin

Beta release of Auralite and book notes on The MANIAC & Eloquent JavaScript.

Hey there.

I hope you've had a great week.

This week I have book notes on The MANIAC & Eloquent Javascript for you.

And I’m sending you an exclusive invitation only for newsletter readers to be among the first to try my new Obsidian plugin, Auralite.

What I've made for you

The MANIAC by Benjamin Labatut

The MANIAC

This book is fiction based on fact. It's a real page-turner for sure. I really enjoyed it.

It started with Paul Ehrenfest taking his own life and killing his disabled son, so others wouldn’t have to take care of him. He went mad because he lost touch with his field.

Then it focuses on John von Neumann, the genius behind e.g. Game Theory, the first programmable computer, and so much more. There’s obviously a lot to admire, but the stories often paint him as inhuman due to his intellect or cold logical judgment.

The third part is about Lee Sedol and AlphaGo.

Eloquent JavaScript by Marijn Haverbeke

Eloquent JavaScript

Generally enjoyable read.

Author had some great takes. The explanations were fine.

Auralite: voice-powered AI Assistant for Obsidian

Auralite is an AI-powered assistant for Obsidian that helps you manage your ideas and knowledge more effectively.

Here’s how it works: you ask it to do something. It does that thing.

That’s what I’m trying to build.

I’m using it all the time. Here are some things I’ve asked it to do:

  • Can you update the frontmatter in my current note? Add a daily summary based on what I’ve written in my journal.

  • Create a new note on Game Theory. Focus on the origins; walk me through what each contributor to the field, and what the latest area of research is. Open the note it to the right.

  • Transcribe what I’m saying now and note it down as a bullet point list. Whenever I say something that’s actionable, add it as a bullet point under an Actions list. Write the actions list separate from the other list. (Then you can talk for a while…)

Currently you can ask it to write, edit, or create notes.
It can also do transcription, which means it’ll format what you’ve said nicely.

This is an exclusive invitation to you, dear newsletter reader, to try out the plugin before everyone else.

If you have any thoughts or feedback, please let me know. I’d be happy to hear them.

Follow the getting started guide below to start.

Here are some demos I’ve posted previously:
