Hey there.I hope you've had a great week.

An experiment with scheduled quiet time

Recently I've started experimenting with scheduled quiet time. Every morning, shortly after I wake up, I spend 45-60 minutes writing and reflecting.

I don't have a set agenda. I just go where my mind takes me.Usually, this means that I'm off to a slow start. However, as time progresses, my mind starts kicking into gear. Suddenly, I'm pulling on this string and that string. Ideas start floating. I get to choose which ones to examine, and which ones to let float. The session almost always ends on a high note. And I always look forward to the next one.

I can highly recommend adopting this practice. All it really is, is sitting down to write in a quiet environment with minimal distractions. Just write about the first things that come to mind. For me, that has usually been about how I've slept, a thought of gratitude, or a reminder of what the day brings.

Do the small things well

Everything in life seems to be a bunch of small things which, together, make up some big thing.

Things are made of atoms, but we don't consider a thing as its individual atoms, we consider it the thing itself.

Running a marathon is taking a series of steps at a heightened pace.Building a castle is done one brick at a time.Being healthy is taken one step at a time: an exercise session, a healthy meal, a good night's rest.

Looking at such subtleties, we can say that not only are the little things important; in some ways, the little things are the only things.

You don't get to skip the small steps. There are no big things, only a bunch of small things together.

Focus on laying that one brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid.Do the small things well.
