Hey there.I hope you've had a great week.

What I've made for you

Book Notes: The Practice: Shipping Creative Work by Seth GodinTo me, this was an all-right book. It had some good parts, but I disliked the format.

Twitter Thread: How you can get a Cards View in ObsidianDo you use Obsidian and miss the card view from Notion?

I know I did. Luckily, it's now easier than ever. Let me show you how you can get it for yourself.

QuickAdd Plugin UpdateI updated my Obsidian plugin, QuickAdd, so you can now use scripts on mobile devices. So now, there's practically no difference in power between desktop and mobile usage.

If you don't use scripts, or know what they can be used for, here's an example: How I Import Literature Notes into Obsidian. It's my semi-automated script for importing literature notes into Obsidian. Whenever I've read a book, I'll just send the notes to Readwise for processing, after which I can import it into Obsidian all nice and formatted.

Mise en place

This is French for "putting in place". It's a concept from cooking that basically means "get your vegetables sliced and ready before you turn on the stove."

While very helpful while cooking, we can transfer it as a mental model to other areas.Mise en place is very powerful for creative work. When writing, for example, you can...

  • Gather everything you need before you start, such that you don't have to stop in the middle of doing and figure out what to do next.

  • Continuously work on a repertoire of notes, so you are always writing from a place of abundance.

  • Research what you can before you start, so you don't have to write as you research.

In short: be ready to work before you start working.
