Sunday Goodies: Aug 29, 2021 — Maxims, Upcoming, Principles
Hey there.I hope you've had a great week.
What I've Made For You
New book notes: Economy of Truth by Vizi AndreiI think it has some gems. Slightly thought-provoking, but did not resonate as much as I had hoped.
Upcoming 👀
I'm working on a few cool things that I'd like to share ahead of time.
First, I'm processing my book notes for $100M Offers, which is a terrific book on sales and marketing. It might take some time, though...
I'm also working on a few things for Obsidian.
A new way to import literature notes and other things you want to take deeper notes on. Featuring a way to update these literature notes with new highlights and annotations.
Improvements to the 'Zettelizer', a script which helps you by automating the creation of literature notes in Obsidian.
I hope to have (1) finished next week, but I want it to be in prime condition for a release before I publish it.
I'll also be describing some workflows. For example, how I keep an inbox of literature notes I've yet to process and refine.
Principles & Values
I try to keep a running log of wisdom that I've stumbled upon or acquired.Writing them down tends to reinforce what I've learned, and it allows me to further reflect upon it.
Some I've stumbled upon recently:
You don't need to be excellent. You just need to consistently not be stupid.
If you're stuck, ask experts how they would solve the problem; not what they would decide.
Lean into what's making you uncomfortable.
Greatly inspired by Shane Parrish.
